Cristian 'Cebolla' Rodríguez stood out as a talented left winger in South American football and in several European clubs, which granted him the privilege of donning the Uruguayan national team's jersey for several years.
With the 'Celeste', he participated in four South American Qualifiers and two FIFA World Cups (Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018), in addition to the 2013 Confederations Cup.
As for the CONMEBOL Copa America™, he made his tournament debut in the 2004 edition in Peru, where he appeared in five of his team's six matches. He also participated in all of Uruguay's matches in the 2007 edition in Venezuela.
In 2011, he secured the title with the 'Charrua' team in the CONMEBOL Copa America™ held in Argentina. During this edition, he was on field for the 1-1 draw with Peru and the 1-0 victory over Mexico, both Group Stage fixtures.
He bid farewell to the continental tournament during the 2015 CONMEBOL Copa America™, where he featured in all four matches played by his team, during the Group Stage and the quarter-finals.
