When we talk about outstanding players from a country, we undoubtedly have to refer to the unique Salvador Cabañas. The athlete excelled himself as a forward for the “América de Mexico” team and has become an icon of the Paraguay national team as the years went by. Besides, he was a key element for his for his country to achieve great results and be able to reach the quarterfinals of the 2007 edition of the CONMEBOL Copa America.
In addition to this, and to add to his collection, the 41-year-old born in Itaugua won the South American Footballer of the Year award, which is given by “El País”, a Uruguayan newspaper. As a result, he became the fifth Paraguayan football player to receive this award.
Cabañas is an example of perseverance, resilience and ability to play at the highest level over the years. What’s more, there is no doubt that he left his mark on the “Albirrojos” hearts.
