Lionel Scaloni will return to the tournament where he won the first of his three titles leading Argentina. Additionally, he is the only coach who remains in charge since the CONMEBOL Copa América™ 2021.
Ricardo Gareca, who made his debut in Chile during the March FIFA date, was present in the previous edition of the tournament although at that time he was coaching Peru.
Another who already knows what it's like to coach in the CONMEBOL Copa América™ is Marcelo Bielsa. The Rosario native, in charge of Uruguay since 2023, was the coach of Argentina in the 1999 tournaments and also in 2004 when they lost the final on penalties against Brazil. Although he also coached Chile, he did not do so in the continental tournament.
Meanwhile, the Uruguayan Jorge Fossati made his debut in Peru in the victory against Nicaragua during the March FIFA date. Although he was also present in that 2004 tournament when he coached Uruguay and finished in third place.
Daniel Garnero and Fernando Batista are two coaches who took over the destinies of Paraguay and Venezuela, respectively, in 2023. Both will have their first experience in this tournament in the CONMEBOL Copa América USA 2024™.
Meanwhile, there will be two Brazilian coaches in the competition starting on June 20th: Dorival Junior took over in January 2024 (and in his debut he defeated England at Wembley) leading the Seleção, and Antonio Carlos Zago is the head coach of Bolivia since 2023. For both, it will also be their debut in the tournament and their first official championship in charge of those teams.
In Colombia, Néstor Lorenzo will be the coach, who was an assistant to José Pekerman during his successful tenure with the Tricolor. He took over his position in 2022 and has the challenge of achieving the second title in history for the Colombians.
The Ecuador national team has had Félix Sánchez as head coach since 2023, the Spaniard trained in La Masía of Barcelona and who coached Qatar in the last FIFA World Cup.
Another Spaniard trained in Barcelona who will participate in the CONMEBOL Copa América USA 2024™ is Thomas Christiansen: born in Denmark but with a Spanish mother, he came to play for the Iberian national team. He has been coaching Panama since 2020.
United States, the reigning champion of the Concacaf Nations League, will have Gregg Berhalter on its bench. The American has been leading the team since 2023 for the second time but has yet to experience a CONMEBOL Copa América™.
Jaime Lozano took over as coach of the Mexico national team for the 2023 Gold Cup and won that tournament. Previously, the Mexican had won the Bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with the under-23 Tri team.
Canada will play in the CONMEBOL Copa América™ for the first time in its history, after qualifying against Trinidad and Tobago. On the bench, they have Canadian Mauro Biello, who took over in 2023 but had been an assistant coach for five years, in the process that led Les Rouges to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Jamaica's coach is Heimir Hallgrimsson, an Icelander who coached his home team in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where he shared a group - among others - with Argentina. He took over the Reggae Boyz in 2022.
The seventh Argentine coach who will be in the CONMEBOL Copa América USA 2024™ is Gustavo Alfaro. The Professor took over in Costa Rica in November 2023 and in March 2024 secured the last ticket to the tournament after defeating Honduras in the playoff. In the previous edition of the tournament, he was the head coach of Ecuador.
