The forward Gabriel Jesus, whose performance was more than important to Brazil's 2-0 victory over Argentina in the CONMEBOL Copa América 2019 semi-finals on Tuesday, said after the match he knew he was going to score a goal.
"I saw in my mind that I was going to score. I'm not saying that because I scored the goal. The other times I didn't say that. I came very confident (...) and I scored the goal in a beautiful team play. Firmino could have found me very well", said the Manchester City striker.
The striker who could not score until Tuesday in the CONMEBOL Copa America, did the first goal and assisted Roberto Firmino in the second.
"I'm very happy not for the goal, but for the team (...) We managed to score the goals, we're all happy for the match, for the effort, for the dedication. We have to play every game with this passion", said the striker, who considered the duel with Argentina as one of the best of his career.
The fact:
Gabriel Jesús scored for Brazil in a non-friendly match (excluding penalty shootout) after nine matches (5 World Cup 2018 and 4 Copa América 2019); the forward did not score since October 2017, against Chile for the qualifications to Russia 2018 (2 goals).
