Peru and Venezuela signed a goalless draw on Saturday in Porto Alegre for Group A of the CONMEBOLCopa América Brazil 2019, in the tournament's first 0-0 tie.
The tie leaves both teams behind Brazil, who beat Bolivia 3-0 in the opening match of the Cup in Sao Paulo.
At the start, the duel was stopped by the accumulation of fouls cutting the rhythm to both teams, but in the complement directed by Ricardo Gareca showed greater vocation offensive against the Venezuelan team that preferred to retreat and counterattack ending with ten players by expulsion of Luis Mago (75).
Neither the Vinotinto, who reached the Cup with their morale elevated by a win over the United States in preparation, nor the Peruvians were able to dominate the ball with criteria for long minutes.
Now, in the second matchday of Group A on Tuesday 18 June, Bolivia will face Peru at the Maracaná in Rio de Janeiro and Brazil will host Venezuela in Salvador.
