The midfielder Lucas Torreira from Uruguay overcame a state of fever that excluded him from playing against Chile, at the end of the group stage, however, he was enabled to play against Peru for the quarterfinals of the CONMEBOL Copa America Brazil 2019.
"I was able to train normally, I felt gradually better. They were quite complicated days with a lot of fever, headache, vomiting, I lost three kilos, but I will be ready for Saturday", said Torreira this Wednesday in Salvador (northwest) in a press conference.
The England Arsenal midfielder had feverish since last Friday, with stomach problems that left him out of several training sessions and Monday's 1-0 win over La Roja at the Maracana.
The midfielder has only played 105 minutes in Brazil 2019 (90 in the 4-0 win over Ecuador and the final 15 in the 2-2 draw with Japan) and is confident of being ready for the match against the Inca team on Saturday at the Arena Fonte Nova.
"90 minutes to play against an opponent who has just lost 5-0 to Brazil but who will try to recover, and that makes the game super complicated, not easy at all", he said.
He admitted that the match against the two-time champions of America "generated a lot of fatigue" in the Celeste because "it was a lot of running, there was a lot of sacrifice" and only until Wednesday "the group is recovering".
From the formative Montevideo Wanderers, Torreira emigrated very young to Italy without making his debut in the first division of football in his country. He enlisted in Pescara and showed himself in Sampdoria, before joining Arsenal after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
