The Peruvian national team, arrived on Tuesday night to Salvador, is preparing with great optimism for the game against Uruguay for a place in the semifinals of the CONMEBOL Copa America. The Inca delegation got at the Catussaba hotel around 9pm local time (24.00 GMT)., the same one where the Colombian team stayed. The goal of Coach Gareca is to be able to recover the memory of the team that played its first World Cup a year ago, after 36 years of absence. Gareca does not hide its desire to reach glory with this team which gave so many successes to Peruvian football. The Peruvians numbers haven't been so bad in this tournament. They scored four points in Group A, starting with a goalless draw against Venezuela, a 2-1 win over Bolivia and of course, a painful defeat against Brazil, 5-0. However, the qualification was assured and the Peruvian team is working in Salvador with a renovated spirit ahead of the quarterfinals against La Celeste. All members of the team have protected the goalkeeper Pedro Gallese, who was responsible for La Canarinha's second goal in last Saturday's defeat and who ended the frustration. On Wednesday the Peruvians trained in the morning at the Pituaçu stadium. This is the fourth consecutive time Peru has reached the quarterfinals of the Copa America since the edition in Argentina 2011. The meeting against Uruguay will be played this Saturday at the Arena Fonte Nova stadium in Salvador, from 4pm local time (19.00 GMT). CONMEBOL.com / FPF
