Ecuadorian striker Enner Valencia lamented on Friday "the lack of concentration" of the tricolor in the 2-1 defeat against Chile, which seriously complicates their classification to the quarterfinals of CONMEBOL Copa America Brazil 2019.
"We made a great effort, our mistake is the lack of concentration, that's whythey have scored very naïve goals", he said at the end of the game in Salvador (northeast).
"We came here looking for a good result, unfortunately we are not given despite the great effort we made. Today we're changing our attitude compared to the last game (which we lost 4-0 to Uruguay)", he added.
Ecuador have suffered two defeats in their first two Group C games and are the last team without points. Their future in this Cup will be decided on Monday, on the final day of this phase, against Japan, who are third with 1 point. The group is led by the already classified Chile with six points and Uruguay is second with four.
"Against Japan, we're going to try to win that game and see what happens", said the striker.
