Uruguay made mistakes but had the "best chances" against Japan, said Charrúa coach Oscar Tabárez on Thursday after a 2-2 tie in Group C of the Copa América-2019.
La Celeste recovered from two advantages scored by Koji Miyoshi (25 and 59) with goals from Luis Suarez and Jose Maria Gimenez penalty, at 32 and 66 minutes.
"Beyond that we made mistakes, we had the best chances, in the second half we tried to look for the return to improve the possession of the ball and I think we went to control the game", said the 'Maestro' Tabarez.
However, "Japan was more forceful, for the few clear chances it had (because) it scored two goals", added DT.
The veteran coach, who has been in charge of La Celeste for 13 years, took the drama out of the tie.
Tabárez assured that more than worrying, he will focus on improving the team's faults in the face of the match that will define the series against Chile, on Monday at the Maracaná stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
But beyond the past and the future, the TD said: "this team leaves everything on the field despite their mistakes.
