He entered to the field as a substitute in the second half and sentenced Colombia's historic 2-0 win over Argentina in their CONMEBOL Copa América 2019 in the debut on Saturday. The striker Duvan Zapata was happy with the performance, but remains calm for what is still to come.
"I came in and accompanied my team, we did the best we could and we managed to turn the match around at the end of the second half. We played very well", said Zapata, striker for Italy's Atalanta.
"We knew that many years had passed, I am very happy but the Cup is not over, the tournament continues, we will enjoy this victory, I am very happy and having fun (...) We are waiting for the next games that will be important, will not be easy", he added.
The strikers Roger Martinez, at the minute 71, and Duvan Zapata, at 86, scored goals for the Cafeteros in a game played at the Arena Fonte Nova stadium in Salvador (northeast).
After this match, Colombia will face Qatar next Wednesday in São Paulo, while Argentina will face Paraguay in Belo Horizonte.
