The CONMEBOL Copa América Brazil 2019 draw will have great protagonists from different periods of South American football. The ceremony this Thursday, the 24th, starting at 8:30 p.m., at Cidade das Artes, in Rio de Janeiro, will feature the five-time world champion and tournament ambassador, Cafú, as the guide of the group draw. By his side, he will have official assistants such as Diego Lugano, Javier Zanetti, Marta, Francisco Maturana, Romerito, Zé Roberto and Zico, who will be responsible for defining the path of the 12 participating teams. The ceremony will be broadcast live on the SporTV channel.
Best of the world in 2004 and 2005, Ronaldinho Gaúcho will make a special participation in the ceremony of about 60 minutes. The CONMEBOL Copa América has an outstanding chapter in the trajectory of the brazilian star. It was in the 1999 edition, even at the age of 19, that the skilled player caught the attention of the football world by scoring a beautiful goal against Venezuela.
The two-time champion of Chile will also be represented on stage. Team member in the conquests of 2015 and 2016, Jean Beausejour, will have the honor of bringing the Copa América trophy, which will be held from June 14.

The six time best player in the world, and the greatest goalscorer in the history of the Brazilian team, Marta, will be positioned in Pot 1, where the seeded teams as Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina will be. The argentine Javier Zanetti, second player with more matches played in the history of the Argentine team, will be in Pot 2, where the balls will be with Colombia, Chile and Peru.
One of the icons of Brazil and Japan, Zico, will be positioned in Pot 3, where Venezuela, Paraguay and Japan are present. In Pot 4, Francisco Maturana, champion with Colombia in 2001 as the team coach, will define the destinations of Ecuador, Bolivia and Qatar.
Champion of Paraguay in the 1979 edition of the CONMEBOL Copa América, Romerito, will be in Pot A. The two-time champion with the Brazilian team in 1997 and 1999, Zé Roberto, will be located in Pot B while the Uruguayan Diego Lugano, champion in 2011, will occupy Pot C.
Draw Format
The FIFA Ranking of December 20, 2018, served as the basis for the definition of all the seeded teams and determined the division of the teams in the four groups of the CONMEBOL Copa América Brazil 2019 Draw.
Brazil, host country, is one of the seeded teams, and will be in the A1 position with the ball of different colour in Group 1. Next to him, also as leaders, will be Uruguay and Argentina, which will be drawn for the Groups B and C (always in position 1 of these Groups).
After the draw of the seeded teams (positions 1B and 1C) the countries that will form each Group and their respective positions within them will be drawn. The balls of squares 2, 3 and 4 will have the participating selections while squares A, B and C will correspond to the positions in the Groups.
Colombia, Chile and Peru are in Group 2. Venezuela, Paraguay and Japan will be in Group 3 while Group 4 is occupy by Ecuador, Bolivia and Qatar.
Even in different Groups, Japan and Qatar, as invited teams, will not be able to face each other in the group stage of the tournament.
CONMEBOL Copa América Brazil 2019
The 46th edition of the oldest national team tournament in the world and which will return to Brazil after 30 years, will be held in five host cities (Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo) and by 12 participating teams. In the field, nine FIFA World Cup titles gathered and some of the biggest stars in the world.
In addition to the ten South American member countries of CONMEBOL (Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela), Japan and Qatar will participate as guests.
